E-CAST SUMMER 2010:
June 28th to July 9th
E-CAST Summer is designed for the student who loves computers and is interested in how computers and programs actually work.
We teach technology skills in a team environment -- with the goal being that each camper will produce a computer game, software program or multi-media project by the end of the session. All sessions are held at Milton Academy.
To make sure that the students don't spend the entire day inside, daily outdoor activities are scheduled.
E-Cast is an intensive two-week middle-school program designed to enhance students' imaginations and further challenge them to explore the areas of science and technology.
In this vastly expanding age of technological tools, the program will provide unique opportunities for the discovery of technological applications in a high-paced, fun-filled environment. For an innovative student, our co-educational program will promote experimentation and risk-taking while fostering a spirit of cooperation and higher self-esteem.
Students will be asked to participate in 3 academic courses daily. Daily athletic activities such as capture the flag and kickball will ensure that students do not spend their summer in front of a computer screen.
Each class is designed from a project-outcome perspective. All classes will result in a final product that the student produces -- whether it be a web page, a newsletter, a game or simple software program, or a multimedia presentation -- that will be showcased on Parents' Day.
Emphasis will be placed on students sharing work with each other and learn to effectively communicate in a collaborative team environment. Enrollment in the camp will be limited so as to maintain our 1:7 teacher to student ratio.
